Plymouth Tube Co. plans to close its East Troy, Wis., CWA plant. The company''s other East Troy plant, which serves the aerospace and industrial markets, will remain operational.
The CWA mill, located at 2061 Young St., has a history of producing high-alloy and super ferritic stainless steel condenser tubing for the power generation and heat transfer markets. But weak market conditions for coal-fired power generation in the United States and a desire to consolidate operations prompted the plant’s closing. Plymouth will complete all orders placed at East Troy and will continue to serve the condenser market from its other locations.
"There''s no question this was a long and difficult decision process," says Donald Van Pelt, Jr., CEO of Warrenville, Ill.-based Plymouth Tube. "We''re doing everything we can to work with our employees, including job search assistance."
