The US steel mills sought for the relief from steel and aluminum tariffs. The US president''s importing tariffs on aluminum and steel created problems for aluminum and steel importers in the US. As a result, the importers were pushing for solutions.
The Trump administration claimed that reliance on imported metals posed a threat to national security last month. Many steel mills and users have been gathering together to fight against the steel and aluminum tariffs. Steel mills in the US might have to choose to produce steels in Mexico where they could buy cheaper steel.
The US steel mills were increasing prices due to the tariffs. Hundreds of steel importers were pushing for the exemption from the 25% steel tariff and the 10% aluminum tariff.
