Although calling Apple Inc.¡¯s iPhone is still too early to be called as a technology icon, most of the mobile equipment manufacturers that are now emerging in the smart phone realm are now looking for ways on how they would create their own version of the iPhone.
And although these iPhone imitators deny that they are imitating the device from Apple Inc., analysts see the smartphone as a big factor that drives the smart phone market. If it is not an influence globally, then certainly it is an influence in the United States.
One of the main features of Apple Inc.¡¯s iPhone that is being imitated by many is the touch-screen feature. They prefer to mimic this feature eventhough the second generation iPhone¡¯s latest networking abilities such as the Exchange email capabilities took the huge marketing treatment from the company this summer. There are already numerous iPhone imitators nowadays but it was only the Sprint Nextel and the Instinct from Samsung that are considered as the most successful iPhone imitators. This is based on the online buzz and comments from the retailers.
According to an analyst, Nokia was supposed to launch a new mobile phone unit which they call the Tube that would take on Apple Inc.¡¯s iPhone. Carolina Milanesi, an analyst from Gartner U.K., said that Nokia¡¯s Tube has to hit the market by September or October so that it can take advantage of the upcoming holiday sales.
