According the data from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC)''s recent Steel Import Monitoring and Analysis (SIMA), the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) said the import permit application was 2.54 million net tons roughly in November.
The presented permit tons dropped by 15.4% from 3 million tons in October and also down by 22.1% from the initiatory imports of 3.3 million net tons. The total import permit tonnage for finish steel in November was around 1.9 million tons, dropping by 3.6% from 2 million tons in October.
The total and finished steel imports were around 32 million tons and 24 million net tons from January to November this year, dropping by 10.4% and 13.3% respectively, compared to the same period last year.
The biggest finished steel import permit applications from the foreign country came from South Korea, followed by Japan, Germany, Vietnam and Taiwan. The biggest foreign supplier in the first 11 months of the year was South Korea, with an accumulated tonnage of 2.7 million net tons, dropping by 25% from the same period in 2017.
