A joint venture between Shinso Corporation and Kobe Steel plus four other companies ¨C Metal One Corporation, Osaka Seiko, Grupo Simec, SAB de CV and O&K American Corporation ¨C officially opened an automotive steel wire plant in Mexico at the Santa Fe Industrial Park in Silao, Guanajuato, Mexico.
The opening ceremony was held at the plant and was attended by Guantajuato''s mayor, Miguel M¨¢rquez M¨¢rquez, the mayor of Silao, Juan Antonio Morales Maciel and Yasuhisa Suzuki, the Consul General of Japan in L¨¦on as well as customers, business partners and others.
The name of the new joint venture company is Kobelco CH Wire Mexicana S A de CV (KCHM).
At the opening ceremony KCHM''s president and CEO, Ikurhiro Yamaguchi, commented, "As a member of th city of Silao and the state of Guanajuato, KCHM aims to do its utmost to support and contribute to the development of this region."
KCHM processes steel wire rod into CH wire, which is used to make automotive fasteners (nuts and bolts) and cold-forging products for sale to automotive parts manufacturers in Mexico. By producing in an area of rising demand, the new company will be able to provide attentive and quick delivery of CH wire of ''outstanding surface quality'', it is claimed, and contribute to expanding the business of its customers.
