Foseco, the foundry division of Vesuvius, London, recently introduced INSURAL, a multi-part insulating lining for aluminum furnaces.

Delivered ready to install with high longevity, INSURAL linings can be installed in three to four days with no ongoing hydrogen issues, compared to linings cast in situ that have to be dried for several weeks before all water is removed. INSURAL features low wettability, making the furnace cavity easy to clean while protecting the liquid metal against impurities. In addition, INSURAL has led to energy savings of up to 17%. The material also is resistant to cracking and corundum build-up.
