Mr Tim Kurt CEO of Aurubis Bulgaria said that up until now an investment of EUR 25 million was planned for 2015. Parallel Aurubis is preparing a project for the renovation of its plant, which will cost almost EUR 50 million. This year investments reached EUR 44.2 million.
Currently the plant in Pirdop is one of the best in the group of Aurubis, a leader in many aspects. For example, the Bulgarian plant and the company''s Hamburg facility are the top producers of copper. Both plants and occupy top positions in ecology and emit tens to hundreds of times less sulfur dioxide than their competitors in Europe and the world.
Mr Tim Kurt sees strong potential for the development of Aurubis Bulgaria. Currently the company sells 90% of its production abroad. At the same time, projections indicate that in 2020 demand for copper in the world will reach 26.1 million tonnes per year compared to 20.6 million tonnes in 2013.
