According to the sales performance as of March 31st, 2017 released by Vedanta, one of the world''s largest diversified natural resources majors, its iron ore production was 10.9 million tons, up by 109.6% year on year; its sales volume was 10.2 million tons, rising by 92.5% year on year.
Vedanta produced iron ore in Goa and Karnataka, and its production in Goa increased further to 8.8 million tons. The Goa¡¯s government has approved an annual mining quota of 5.5 million tons in January to February, with an additional production of 2.6 million tons. Goa¡¯s iron ore annual production capacity has reached to 20 million ton.
Goa has sought the Supreme Court this late month to accept the suggestion from the Committee of Experts of annual production ceiling to 37 million tons.
