Nippon Steel and Sumitomo Metal makes an additional investment to AM/NS Calvert, the joint venture for automobile steel sheet with ArcelorMittal in the United States, start to produce Ultra high tensile strength steel in the field. The firm re-create heat treating equipment at a cost of around 10 billion yen by the end of 2016, and consolidate the system to produce 1180 MPa level steel sheets in and after 2017.
