Japanese company Ryobi Limited announced plans to invest $97.5 million and add up to 150 new employees for its facility in Shelbyville, Indiana.

According to the Indianapolis Business Journal, Ryobi Limited is planning to buy a 350,000 sq. ft. building next to Ryobi Die Casting USA, its American subsidiary. The report says the purchase will expand Ryobi’s operations in the area to four buildings.

Ryobi, the article said, will be able to process 500,000 castings annually by 2018 at its structural and engine block diecasting operation.

The facility is expected to open by late 2017.

“Ryobi Die Casting is a world-leading manufacturer of powertrain and structural/body-in-white castings, said Tom Johnson, president, Ryobi Die Casting USA, in a news release. “This investment clearly shows our commitment to the ever-expanding lightweight and fuel efficient markets. Our company considered options on where to locate this expanded production, but we ultimately chose our Indiana facility because of the high-quality work our team performs here, as well as the excellent business environment that continues to support our growth.”
