According to a survey conducted by the Japan Ferrous Raw Materials Association, the consumption of scrap for basic oxygen furnace from Japanese steel industries totaled around 810,000 tons in February, falling by 7.4% compared to last month.
The consumption of scrap has dropped for two weeks, and was also the lowest level since last September.
The daily consumption of scrap in February averaged 28,900 tons, and that in January averaged 28,200 tons.
