According to the Latin American Steel Association (ALACERO) statistics showed that Latin America and the Caribbean produced 26.4 million tons of crude steel in January-May this year, up by 12% compared with the same period of last year.
Among them, Brazil produced 14.1 million tons of crude steel, accounted for 53% of the total production, increased by 14% compared with the same period of last year.
In the same time, Latin American steel structure imports totaled 9.6 million tons, increased by 18% compared with the same period of last year; that of steel plate imports totaled 6.3 million tons; the steel long product totaled 3 million tons; seamless tube imports totaled 239,000 tons.
