Meanwhile, in the January-0ctober period this year, domestic steel consumption in thecountry decreased by 3.9 percent year on year to 37.6 million metric tons
in the first ten months of the given year, steel product consumption in the construction sector in Japan moved down by10.1 percent to 7 39 milion metric tons, while steel product consumption in the Japanese automotive sector amountedto 9.6 million metric tons, up 7.4 percent, both on year-on-year basis. n the given period, Japan''s shipbuilding industryconsumed 2.33 milion metric tons of steel products, down 0.7 percent compared to the same period of the previousyear.
