Chinese Baosteel to raise price for Mar-2019 China(Guangzhou)Int’l Metal & Metallurgy Exhibition-metal exhibition

The Chinese steelmaker Baosteel Group announced to raise its domestic hot-rolled steel plate prices by RMB 50/ton for March. Due to the coming Chinese New Year long holidays and few working days during February, Baosteel decided to announce March prices early.
The new price was as same as expectation in the market. Although the demand was weak, Baosteel tried to stabilize the February prices and increase price for March.
As the raw material prices were at a low level, Baosteel tried to stimulate the demand from the market. The company also hoped the new price will be supported after the Chinese New Year holidays.
