In the first half of this year, the demand of steel in Thailand increased by 1.5% to 8.48 million tons, this growth rate mainly coming from construction and automobile industries.
The total steel imports increased by 4.4% to 5.8 million tons y-o-y. Among them, long steel products increase by 10.9% to 1.2 million tons and flat steel increased by 2.8% to 4.6 million tons.
Comparing the steel exportation, total volume increases by 15.2% to 778,000 tons, long products increase by 21% to 420,000 tons, flat products increase by 8.9% to 354,000 tons.
According to the Thailand Customs data, most of the flat steel exported to Vietnam and hot rolled coil to Malaysia.
