Although hot-dip galvanized steel market in Europe was stable at the beginning of this year and the spot trading market of European steel mills remained calm, competitive pricing in Asia might put pressure on European steel mills.
At present, EU''s anti-dumping against Chinese galvanized products was divided into two categories. The first category was anti-dumping against China''s specific grade hot-dip galvanized steel, and the second was based on specific country quotas for China, South Korea, India and Taiwan, as well as global quotas.
Last year, European automakers continued importing Chinese hot-dip galvanized steel because certain specific grades in auto industry were not in the anti-dumping category designated by the EU.
However, it was said that future automakers will be subject to more restrictions on the purchase of Chinese materials as the EU set quotas for different countries. Therefore, the import volume of automakers will be much less than before.
