According to the statistics from the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF), the production of Japanese small-sized steel bar totaled around 750,000 tons in March, up by 5.1% year on year, which was the first year-on-year increase in four months.
In the fiscal year 2017, Japan produced around 8.51 million tons of small-sized steel bar, increasing by 0.9% compared to the same period last year, with the monthly average of 709,000 tons, which was the first increase since the fiscal year 2013.
In the first three months this year, the total production was around 2.06 million tons, hiking by 0.1% compared to the same period a year ago. The monthly average was 688,000 tons and the expected annual exports were around 8.3 million tons.
