GMH Gruppe restarts one of Europe's largest open-die forging presses--Forging Exhibition-2027 China(Guangzhou)International Forging Industry Exhibition

Germany’s GMH Gruppe announced the recommissioning of an 80 MN (8,000-tonne) open-die forging press at its Wetzlar plant to meet growing demand for large, complex forgings in energy infrastructure, international shipbuilding, and digital infrastructure (such as data centers). The group is investing around EUR 30 million to integrate its three forging companies, with total annual output exceeding 100,000 tonnes. The press will use steel produced from electric arc furnace scrap, which can cut CO₂ emissions by up to 80% compared with conventional blast furnace processes. The group also expects emerging fields such as fusion technology to generate additional demand.
