GMS Market Commentary on Shipbreaking in China in Week 52 - PITIFUL END!-The 20th China(Guangzhou) Int’l Forging Industry Exhibition 1/2/2019 锻造展- Forging Industry exhibition - Forging expo |

The final week of ship recycling on international tonnage in China brought with it no new deals or excitement, as the Chinese ship recycling sector is ready to go out silently with the end of 2018. Domestically flagged state run ships will still be permitted to arrive locally for recycling at the few yards that do renew their operating licenses and remain open through 2019. However, only at very low prices that have remained stranded in the low-to-mid USD 100s/LDT - quite the gap when compared to the subcontinent markets that remain over USD 300/LDT ahead.
It is therefore with great disappointment that we bid adieu to this section of the GMS weekly, as the closure of the market in China on international tonnage also brings with it, an end to our reporting of it (or non reporting as it has been for the last few months).
