Domestic selling figures throughout the region have slipped across flat and long products and basis values have remained largely unchanged. A negative trend in alloy surcharges, however, marked down transaction values.
Local selling prices are being hampered by non-EU import penetration and in the USA, demand for flat and long products remains sluggish. Prices for domestic cold-rolled caoil have increased slightly as local producers cut back capacity. Imports from China will slow down following a trade case announcement.
In Asia, falling input costs continue to have a negative effect on prices while in Japan and Taiwan selling values reduced marginally in February.
