Representatives from the United Steel Workers (USW) union Monday called for strikes at refineries throughout the US.  USW Carson representative David Campbell said this is the largest strike the union has participated in in the past 35 years.|

Approximately 800 workers are on strike at the Tesoro refinery, according to sources, a decision which is directly tied to the break-down in negotiations with Shell Oil Company.

Employees are complaining about fatigue, alleged unsafe staffing practices and safety concerns, noting leaks and fires are an almost daily occurrence.
