ISSDA encourages railway operator to apply stainless steel to infrastructure-The 20th China(Guangzhou)Int'l Stainless Steel Industry Exhibition

It was reported that the Indian Stainless Steel Development Association (ISSDA) recently announced a statement and appealed to railway operator for replacing present carbon steel by stainless steel.
The Andheri Bridge which connected Andheri and Gokhale collapsed on July 3rd this year due to heavy rains for days. The investigation report indicated that the main reason for this accidence was bridge’s construction corrosion itself. The ISSDA affirmed that the application of stainless steel on long-term infrastructure would help waive from such collapse and tragedy, especially for those pedestrian bridges and overpasses.
The report also indicated that Bombay was located along the coast so the steel was under a high-corrosion environment. The stainless steel construction component was crucial therefore.
Present of ISSDA, Phuja, said that it would be a fantastic decision to have the application of stainless steel on railway infrastructure as more than half of 120,000 bridges in India has aged for more than 100 years.
