The US recently announced that it will exempt Indonesian 19 steel import tariffs. In this regard, Taiwanese stainless steel industry mingled hope with worry.
The bad side was worried that Indonesian stainless steel factories will seize Taiwanese stainless steel market share in the US, but some steel participants believed that since the US levied a tariff on steel and aluminum, the number of stainless steel products sold from Taiwan to the US was limited, which was estimated to have little impact.
On the positive side, if Indonesian stainless steel plant was focused on the US market, it will help to reduce the stocks. Therefore, it was predicted to avoid excessive inventory. If the stocks entered into the Asian market, it will have a bidding pressure.
In addition, Taiwanese stainless steel was not exclusively exported to the US, which was opposite to galvanized steel. Therefore, the galvanized steel products were the most affected by US'' Section 232.
