Bystronic has introduced the larger format 4020 (6- by 12-ft. material size) of its ByTrans Extended compact material handling system. Loading and unloading of materials to the laser cutting machine takes 75 sec. so that the system is faster than the shortest cutting plan.

The short cycle time, which is independent of the sheet metal thickness, helps maximize overall throughput, the manufacturer states. With a small, inline footprint, the system handles all sheet thicknesses up to 0.75-in. plate. It offers two raw material locations and one unload location. The second raw material location also can serve as the location for the unloading of automatically sorted parts.
