A steel company, Haq Steels and Metaliks Limited (HSML), has filed a police complaint alleging the theft of 500 steel roof sheets and a tank from the manufacturing unit of Global Hi-Tech Industries Limited (GHTIL), a Kutch-based company that it has acquired.
Vijay Konthala, general manager of Haq Steels, filed a complaint with Padhar police station on Thursday. Based on it, an FIR was registered against unidentified person for theft of 500 steel roof sheets worth Rs 24,000 and steel tank weighing seven tonne, worth Rs 2.1 lakh.
In his complaint, Konthala said that HSML had acquired GHTIL on March 24, 2023, by placing a bid of Rs 24 crore in e-auction conducted during the liquidation process of the latter. He added that before winning the auction, HSML had used drone camera to take photos of assets at GHTIL plant. HSML was to get possession of GHTIL plant from State Bank of India on June 30, 2023. However, the e-auction was challenged before a debt recovery tribunal in Mumbai and HSML couldn’t take possession of the plant.
