Shree Minerals Limited, an Australian diversified mineral exploration and mine development company, announced that the company has made new progress in its application for the development of the Direct Shipping Iron Ore (DSO) operation at the Nelson Bay River Project (NBR) in northwest Tasmania. The council has issued a license application for the project.
The DSO operation would use local contractors to be responsible for the entire mining, processing, and transportation process. Except for crushing and screening, no major processing is required, and the ore would be directly transported to the port by truck and shipped.
The NBR project is located in the northwestern part of Tasmania, about 150 kilometers away from Burnie Port, and has 11.3 million tons of iron ore resources that meet the JORC standard.
The project was developed in 2013, and the first batch of ore was shipped from Burnie Port in January 2014.
