Nucor was in the process of upgrading its Decatur plant in Alabama.
Decatur''s sheet product output was 2.5 million short tons per year originally, and it would increase the output of sheet products by 800,000 short tons per year after the installation was finished.
This investment would help Nucor Steel Decatur remain competitive in the global market. The company stated that Decatur''s investment upgrade project would increase the speed of production and make facilities more efficient.
