China’s State Council has announced to drop the value-added tax rate on the manufacturing sectors from May 1st, according to a cabinet meeting.
The tax rate for the manufacturing sector will be reduced from 17% to 16%, and that for transportation, construction, telecommunication and agricultural sectors will be cut from 11% 10%.
China said that the move is aiming to stimulate and increase domestic consumption as it will help reduce the tax burden on manufacturing firms, making it possible for firms to sell products at lower prices.
