According to the report, the United States (US) mills currently announced to increase the coil prices of hot-rolled, cold-rolled and hot-dip galvanized steel about US$44/ton. Among them, Nucor Corporation, ArcelorMittal USA, United States Steel Corporation (U.S. Steel), NLMK and Duferco have announced price increases.
The trader considered that the US mills suddenly increased the product prices because the investigation of section 232 didn¡¯t clarify and the US president Trump intended to protect the domestic industry though imposed high tariffs to the imported products.
Some mills worried about the trade measure and the result of section 232. If the raw material and the sales order didn''t improve recently, the trading condition in the first quarter of 2018 will be influenced.
