Iran flat steel import prices rise, but demand stays low- The 19th China£¨Guangzhou£©Int¡¯l Sheet metal machinery,Forging, Stamping and Setting Equipment Exhibition

    Financial Times reported that the prices for some flat steel products to be imported into Iran increased last week, while buying activity was slow because buyers wanted discounts. A trader said that ¡°The market is not active enough. The domestic price is less than the cost of imported goods.¡±

Metal Bulletin¡¯s price assessment for imported 2-mm hot-rolled coil in Iran was USD 583 to USD 595 per tonne CFR Iranian ports on October 4, compared with USD 565 to USD 605 per tonne a week earlier.

A 5,000 ton cargo of HRC from ArcelorMittal Temirtau was booked at USD 501 per tonne FOB. The estimated cost of freight from Temirtau to Anzali in northern Iran is USD 9 per tonne.

Offers of HRC from ArcelorMittal Temirtau were USD 586 per tonne FOB, equivalent to USD 595 per tonne CFR. One buyer was bidding USD 530 per tonne CFR, but could get no discount.

Russia¡¯s MMK offered HRC at EUR 480 (USD 565) per tonne FOB. The estimated cost of freight from Russia to Iran is around USD 20 per tonne.

Metal Bulletin¡¯s price assessment for imported cold-rolled coil in Iran was USD 625-630 per tonne CFR Iranian ports on Wednesday, rising from USD 620-625 per tonne CFR.

Offers were heard at USD 630 per tonne CFR.

The weekly price assessment for Iranian hot dipped galvanized coil imports was unchanged at USD 705-713 per tonne CFR on Wednesday.

Offers from China were heard at USD 660 per tonne FOB after the assessments were published. The cost of freight is around USD 25-30 per tonne from China to Iran.
