According to Latin America Iron and Steel Institute (Alacero) statistics, in January-July this year Latin America and the Caribbean finished steel consumption totaled 36.19 million tons, down 13% year on year.
Among them, Latin America imported 109500 tons of steel from Mexico, an increase of 1% year on year; imported up to 106,000 tons Peru, an increase of 6% year on year; imported 52,000 tons from Honduras, rose 35% year on year; imported 30,000 tons from Panama, rose 13% year on year.
