Rapid Sheet Metal keeps moving fast- The 18th China£¨Guangzhou£©Int¡¯l Sheet metal machinery,Forging, Stamping and Setting Equipment Exhibition

NASHUA - Growing at a steady pace throughout the past several years, Rapid Sheet Metal is ready for the next phase of its 15-year journey.
The local company, which was recently ranked by Inc. Magazine as one of the fastest growing private companies in the nation, was founded in 2001 with a mission to quickly turn around quotes and manufacturing prototype sheet metal parts.
Since then, Rapid Sheet Metal has evolved into three divisions falling under the umbrella of RAPID, which employs 325 workers.
"I had no idea this business would grow into what it has become, but the customers keep coming back," said Jay Jacobs, founder of the large prototype sheet metal manufacturer that has national clients such as Google, Apple, Lockheed Martin and Tesla Motors.
The company''s standard is to reduce lead time and deliver parts within seven business days, but Jacobs says he plans to create a new standard of five business days.
"We hope to expand," said Jacobs, adding RAPID currently occupies more than 140,000 square feet of manufacturing space throughout Nashua, specializing in sheet metal and machine prototype parts, wire harness, cable assemblies and box builds.
To date, Rapid Sheet Metal has shipped more than 100,000 unique parts to clients in various industries such as automotive and defense.
"Our growth has been pretty impressive," said David Puleo, operations manager. About 1,200 unique parts are being shipped each month by Rapid Sheet Metal, with substantially more being shipped throughout all three RAPID divisions.
Rapid Sheet Metal is housed at 104 Perimeter Road in Nashua, with Rapid Machining operating from its 22 Charron Ave. site and Rapid Wire Cable, Rapid Production and RAPID corporate operating nearby at 15 Charron Ave.
Starting with just four employees in 2001, Jacobs said the company''s 15-year anniversary is truly a milestone that deserves celebration, and he is looking forward to what the future has in store - including the continuous changing landscape on how prototype sheet metal parts are delivered.
"We have found that Nashua is a great hub to attract workers," said Jacobs, adding many of his employees have been with the company for several years.
Fall is the busiest time for Rapid Sheet Metal, as there are several trade shows and the typical end-of-year rush, according to business leaders.
The business operates 24 hours a day with three shifts. Listening to its customer demands, Rapid Sheet Metal recently added powder coating to its list of services. It also recently created a free app that instantly quotes prices for sheet metal parts - and is the first company of its kind to do it.
"We currently have a patent application pending on that," Jacobs said.
